The Strategic Miami Area Transit (SMART*) Plan is an $8.5B investment plan enacted in 2016 by the County of Miami and consists in building within 10 years 6 rapid-transit corridors.
The South-Dade Transitway will be the first corridor to open and will begin to operate by 2022. It consists of a 20-mile rapid-transit bus system from Miami to Homestead, an area that represents the fastest growing community in the Miami-Dade County. This major infrastructure change will profoundly improve the access and reduce the commute time in the area.
